In order to understand what is done with traditional Irish stories today, it is perhaps wise to start at the beginning, with the conversion of Ireland from paganism to Christianity. While the focus of this examination will be, for the most part, on the transferal of the female goddess figure from pre-Christian Irish stories and culture to early Christian culture, it will undoubtedly shed light on the habit of “modernizing” traditional stories and character types.

Climbing Out of Darkness – Two Fault Tolerant

Imagine that you’ve been pushed from an airplane with no parachute. One minute, you’re resting peacefully in your seat, and the next you’re free-falling from cruising altitude into the ocean. You’re terrified, and adrenaline is fire in your veins, but you can’t seem to get past the thoughts that (1) you’re fairly certain you left the toaster plugged in (those first 47 toaster checks were inconclusive), and (2) you don’t know how to swim.
